Marty's more than forty years experience spans multiple sectors of the health care industry, corporate and non-profit sectors. He served in multiple senior leadership roles: as a CEO, COO and leader in several preeminent medical centers and health care systems. Today he coaches people in these roles as well as their teams.

Marty is recognized for is work as an executive coach, turn-around leader, strategist, visionary and facilitator.  His track record in leading transformational culture change and building outstanding teams is recognized nationally.  Physician and clinical leaders appreciate his collaborative style.  He's built successful HMOs and IPAs, a host of service lines and innovative ambulatory programs.  These days he devotes considerable time to the creation and success of Accountable Care Organizations. 

Marty amassed significant leadership experience in working collaboratively with physicians; specifically, serving in leadership roles in group practices, independent practice associations, medical foundations, faculty practice plans and with the medical boards of hospitals.  He led the development of a geriatric service line that, ultimately, was established as the Goldman Institute on Aging; all programs under it's umbrella are ambulatory and focused on alternatives to acute care.

Marty is a graduate of Columbia University's Program in Healthcare Administration where he was awarded the Leopold Shepp Fellowship. He is a Fellow in the American College of Health Care Executives. Marty has extensive training and expertise in organizational and group dynamics, systems thinking and conflict resolution.

Among numerous leadership posts, Marty served for six years on the American Hospital Association's Metropolitan Hospital Governing Council including a term as Chair.

Marty is the recipient of numerous awards for his work and community service. He has mentored many individuals in the health care, business and non-profit sectors.  His health care experience spans the continuum of care: prevention, ambulatory, acute, rehabilitation, long-term, palliative, and hospice services.

Marty is a frequent speaker, lecturer, and author. He is a Senior Fellow and Coach at The Center for the Health Professions at the University of California San Francisco. There he serves as a Coach/Advisor to the California Health Care Foundation's Leadership Fellows Program, the Change Management Program and as a Pod Coach for the Pharmacy Leadership Institute.

Not-for-profit and private sector governing boards rely on Mr. Diamond for counsel. He serves on The Joint Commission's  National Safety Advisory Committee, which recommends the annual National Patient Safety Goals.

Marty serves on the Advisory Board of Mentoring in Medicine-California, the Admissions Committee of the California Healthcare Foundation's Leadership Fellows Program, and as an Advisor to Practice Fusion, a start-up offering physicians secure, encrypted access to an on-line electronic health record system.

Marty recently completed a two year period of service as a member of Editorial Board of the Journal of Healthcare Management.  He has also been a contributor to this publication.
